Real Urban EDC Kit: What to Prepare For Part Three
Don't bog yourself down with cheap, easily replaceable items like toiletries.
Save the weight and capacity for the uncommon items that will prove useful.
Real urban EDC requires mobility, so it produces a minimalist aesthetic.
You want capability that is not overburdensome to carry around the city with you.
EDC means everyday, and we take that seriously.
Uncommon events push the boundaries or what an urban EDC can reasonably entail.
Inevitably, there is a limit to the capability and capacity of any EDC.
The necessity to augment and EDC system arrises under the topic of evacuations, or "bugging out."
Uncommon events, like annual severe weather patterns, make evacuation planning a little easier to understand.
This level of planning and preparedness brings us to the emergency evacuation kit, or "bug out kit."
We highly suggest using a storm-proof case- like a Pelican or SKB case.
These cases protect against water and some are designed to be able to float.
The larger cases have wheels and extendable handles, which makes transporting them in on streets and sidewalks very easy.
Here are the contents in our evacuation kit:
- Bottled Water
- Food (canned food, ready to eat stuff, rice and beans with spices)
- Camping Cookware
- Camping Stove
- Clean Change of Clothes
- Wool Blanket
- Sleeping Bag and Pad
- Tent
- Emergency Radio
- Batteries
- Flashlight
- Soap and Towel
The idea is this evacuation kit could keep you sustained in a motel or outside for a limited duration.
